Betsy and I opened Second Place in 2021, and it’s been our creative playground ever since. This space has served as my testing ground for countless projects over the years, allowing me to experiment, refine, and bring ideas to life. What I love most about Second Place is the hands-on approach we take with everything we create. From designing and screen printing to sewing, dyeing, packing, and shipping—I'm involved in every step of the process. It's incredibly fulfilling to see something go from a concept in my mind to a finished product in someone's hands. Second Place is more than just a shop; it’s where my passion for craftsmanship and creativity truly comes alive.

SPC MECHANIC’S CAP
The Mechanic's Cap has a fascinating history—it was originally designed during WWII to help US flight crews keep the sun out of their eyes. Its practical design quickly became a favorite among service members, who personalized their caps with names, ranks, pin-ups, and cartoons, often wearing them with the visor flipped up.
Our version of the Mechanic's Cap takes that classic functionality and gives it a modern twist. We use vintage black cotton canvas for a timeless look, and the cap features heavy stitching, internal reinforcement, and a flexible visor. The adjustable clasp ensures a perfect fit, and the embroidered lettering adds a custom touch. We’ve crafted this cap with a unique pattern we developed ourselves, and it's all made in LA. Over the years, we've refined it through three different iterations, always keeping that original spirit while enhancing its style and durability.
